Tangle Fiction is a collaborative role-playing game designed for middle school classes of 12 to 24 students.
  • Collaborative game
  • Secondary Level II
  • 12 to 24 students

Conducted between 2025 and 2026, the Tangle Fiction project aimed to create a collaborative role-playing game for high school students.

This game is designed to introduce students to knowledge that lies at the intersection of the humanities and social sciences and the natural sciences, and is grouped under the term “environmental humanities.”

Based on the work of anthropologist Philippe Descola, Tangle Fiction challenges the conventional distinction between nature and culture to encourage a reinterpretation of knowledge and a new approach to the themes explored. The game allows students to explore the relationships between humans and non-humans and to address the challenges of the Anthropocene.

The game’s design was based on a co-creation phase carried out in collaboration with high school students and teachers. It was tested by more than 400 students over a seven-month period.
