Games, whether board games or video games, face a paradox: on the one hand, their industry, production and practice have an impact on the environment. On the other, like few other media, it seems capable of thematizing – by modeling – the human impact on nature. So how can we reconcile digital sobriety with opportunities to raise awareness? During this round table, EPFL engineer Lina Picasso and game developer Saara Jones will share their experiences, methods and points of view to discuss the limits of video games and digital media in the broader sense of sustainability.
