In this talk, Mehdi Derfoufi proposes to approach contemporary video games by confronting the dominant representations and strategies of the industry with the emergence of minority proposals that intend to bring out another vision of the world. He will pay particular attention to how video games deal with issues of gender, racism and the climate crisis.
This event, open to all with no obligation to register, is the fruit of collaboration betweenUniDistance Switzerland ‘s History Faculty and the Swiss Games Museum, and is part of the Cultural History module of the Bachelor’s degree in History taught by Prof. Dr. Claude Hauser and Dr. Cyril Cordoba.

Mehdi Derfoufi is a lecturer and researcher in cultural studies at Paris 8 University and the Center for Media, Technology and International Studies (CEMTI). His research focuses on contemporary issues of racism and sexism in video games, cinema and TV series.
