The first edition of the Festival des Jeux de La Tour-de-Peilz is a great success!

From September 6 to 8, the Musée Suisse du Jeu organized the very first edition of the Festival des Jeux, in collaboration with the commune of La Tour-de-Peilz and its communal library, the ABCDé. Over 8,000 people took part in the event, despite the capricious weather.

A weekend of games

For 3 days, La Tour-de-Peilz vibrated to the rhythm of gaming, with a rich and varied program featuring Swiss video games, an arcade, contemporary board games, laser games, classic games, play conferences and outdoor games. The public was able to explore every facet of the world of games. Even the little ones were not forgotten, with a special area dedicated to toddlers.

The festival kicked off with a magnificent launch party, attracting almost 1,000 people to the Château to discover the MSJ’s new permanent exhibition. From Saturday September 7 onwards, festival-goers took to the various play areas scattered throughout the city center, transforming every street corner into a place dedicated to play and the celebration of play cultures.

Key figures

This first edition mobilized over 350 people, including museum and municipal employees, service providers, members of associations and almost 150 volunteers. More than 50 partners from the entertainment and cultural sectors contributed to the scale of the event, which was also distinguished by the huge success of the second-hand games market, with more than 1,200 boxes sold over the weekend.

The challenge was to transform the former open day of the Swiss Games Museum, the Château des Jeux, into a genuine city-wide festival, with daytime and evening activities. The organizing committee was very pleased with the success of this first edition, and with the positive feedback received throughout the weekend.

Initially, the committee expected between 6,000 and 8,000 visitors. This figure was exceeded despite rainy weather on Sunday afternoon. Over 8,000 people strolled through the various festival areas over the weekend.

The next edition of the Festival des Jeux is already scheduled for September 5-6-7, 2025!
